One of the items overlooked due to the exceptionally heavy news agenda of the last few weeks is this report from Iran. On October 8th, an IranAir Airbus A320-200, [EP-IEB] flight IR-423 from Shiraz to Tehran Mehrabad (Iran) with 150 people on board, landed at Tehran. On exiting the runway smoke emitted from the right hand main landing gear.
The aircraft stopped on the taxiway, when the smoke changed to fire. Emergency services responded, and extinguished the fire by foaming the landing gear. In the process the outboard tyre deflated.
The 150 passengers and crew, deplaned via mobile steps. The airline later reported the wheel brakes had locked up. A full investigation is currently underway.
