|One aviation story that seems to have slipped through the news net, concerns this Jet2 Boeing 737-800 out of Glasgow Airport on October 13th....|
The Boeing 737-800 was enroute at Flight Level 350 over the Atlantic Ocean about 80nm north of Funchal (Madiera) when the crew declared an emergency, reporting an engine failure.
The crew shut down the engine, descended the aircraft to Flight Level 250 and continued on one engine to Tenerife, where the aircraft landed safely about 75 minutes later.
The aircraft remained on the ground in Tenerife for about 52 hours whilst the engine problem was diagnosed and repaired before resuming service. A full investigation was also started by authorities.
