Julian Bray reports: Shocking news is emerging tonight from the French news agency AFP, they are claiming that Doctors at Lufthansa had recommended that pilot Andreas Lubitz, who is suspected of deliberately crashing a plane in the French Alps, be given psychological treatment after he suffered a bout of depression, a German newspaper reported.
If this is the case then the Lufthansa Chief Officer Corporate Director Human Resources and Legal Affairs Dr. Bettina Volkens, a lawyer by profession, (who has been shielded so far from the media) would have known, as she also handles the medical and health evaluations for flying staff. So perhaps now is the time for Dr. Volkens to face the media and tell us what she really knows?

Citing documents found by Germany’s air transport authority, the Bild am Sonntag said the doctors wrote that “Lubitz should continue to receive psychological treatment, even though he was deemed fit to fly” by an independent expert in 2009.
Lubitz had interrupted his flight training in 2009 and had told Lufthansa about his illness.
The report does not specify if Lubitz had indeed benefited from continued treatment.
