Five people have been arrested in Birmingham on Thursday and Friday in relation to alleged terrorist activities.
Four of the arrests, three men aged 26, 40 and 59 and a 29-year-old woman - were arrested in the city on Thursday evening.
A 26-year-old man was subsequently arrested at London Gatwick airport in the early hours of Friday.
Assistant Chief Constable Marcus Beale said the arrests were part of an "extensive investigation" involving French and Belgian partners addressing "any associated threat to the UK following the attacks in Europe".
The five are currently being held for questioning.
All five are currently being held in the West Midlands and are being questioned by WMCTU officers.
Police are also searching a number of properties in the city as part of an ongoing investigation.
