An 18-year-old Iranian German male armed with a handgun, who lived in Munich, Germany turns out to be the sole gunman who shot dead nine people ( including children) at a shopping mall, and caused twenty people to be admitted to hospital, three of those admitted are in a critical condition, no motive has been disclosed, and it is not clear if the gunman shot himself (most likely) or was shot by police in an exchange of gunfire. The City placed under a State of Emergency has now returned to normality, and the transport system restored. Police are confident the 18-year-old male was acting alone.
Police holding an early morning press conference said more than 2,300 police officers were involved, drawn from all over Germany, Switzerland and Austria. They will not be releasing further details, until next of kin had been informed, but appealed for any camera phone video footage of the incident or area at the time of the shootings, taken by members of the public and media to be sent to police.
