The UK Ministry of Defence [MOD] says a Royal Air Force [RAF] Defence Helicopter Training School Griffin training helicopter made a precautionary emergency landing on a mountain peak in Wales, before the helicopter burst into flames.
The MOD says all four people aboard the Griffin training helicopter, evacuated safely after the aircraft developed a "technical issue" on Tuesday "and subsequently the aircraft caught fire."
Pictures shared on social media taken by hikers show a thick plume of smoke rising from Yr Aran, a peak in the Snowdonia mountain range in north Wales. Police, mountain rescue and ambulance rescue services all attended.
