|Spectators rush to assist pilot who ditched his light aircraft and helped turn his display team aircraft the right way up.|
Kent Police, in a series of tweets, said the plane came down close to Sea View Road at about 15:35 BST.
The plane flipped over, and was then turned upright and pushed inshore by members of the public watching the display. The pilot was also helped ashore, a spokeswoman for the air show organisers said.
The Kent police twitter account reported "People watching the display rushed to help after a plane in the Turbulent Display Team ditched."
A Herne Bay Air Show spokeswoman said members of the public had righted the plane and helped the pilot from the Turbulent display team to shore. The pilot suffered "minor injuries", she added.
