The Unite trade union has confirmed its members of the British Airways mixed fleet division will take renewed industrial action for a further 14 days. The new strike starting on July 19.
Julian Bray Aviation Expert comments: "British Airways, at one time the UK's national 'favourite' airline is these days a brand owned by International Airlines Group, headquartered in Spain.
The BA mixed fleet cabin crew has been in a long-running dispute over pay, which was largely settled but major differences over travel and bonus payment remain outstanding.
"BA Mixed fleet crew members are generally on lower pay grades than older employees, they claim that some BA are forced to sleep in cars in between shifts and having to hold down two or more jobs in order to make ends meet. British Airways claim that pay rates offered are competitive with 'comparative' airlines."
