AS intrepid travel editor Simon Calder seems to have the weather warning scenarios all wrapped up, and is on every available broadcast medium, almost 24 hours a day, we suggest you heed his warnings and stay at home in the warm.
Precautionary widespread road, rail and air cancellations have already been put in place for the rest of this week.
UPDATE: Saturday March 3rd 2018: These have now been renewed, for next week, as Storm Emma is now whipping up a below Siberia wind chill factor coupled with freezing rain.. Expect to see thousands of intrepid/ fool hardy (depends on your politics) broadcast journalists, red noses, freezing knee deep, in snow and slush for another week...
Weather forecasters suggest that waves of snow, coupled with artic temperatures and high winds will lead to blizzards and drifting, this will impact in certain areas, but some counties may be spared.
However, as transportation works on a network arrangement even though little snow may fall in your area, further up the line it may be difficult. Hence the cancellations.
Expect widespread panic at supermarkets as cans of soup and loaves of bread are rapidly cleared from shelves. If you can work from home, this would be a really good week to do so and possibly next week too.
