The UK government has lifted a ban imposed on carrying large electronic devices in the aircraft cabin of selected flights to the UK. These include large phones, laptops, tablets. All are now allowed inside the cabin on the majority of flights to the country.
In addition, a ban on carrying large phones, laptops and tablets in the cabin has been lifted on all UK bound flights from Antalya (Turkey), Bodrum (Turkey), Hurghada (Egypt), Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (Turkey), Izmir (Turkey), Luxor (Egypt), Marsa Alam (Egypt) and Tunis-Carthage International (Tunisia).
Restrictions have also been lifted on a number of individual airlines operating from other airports. The vast majority of carriers operating from airports in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt are no longer subject to these restrictions.
Passengers should still contact their airlines for advice about whether their flights are affected.
Some airlines have maintained the ban for operational reasons. This does not reflect the security standards at these airports, but is an operational decision by individual carriers.
Passengers travelling from these airports should contact their airlines for advice about whether their flights are affected: Istanbul Atatürk and Dalaman (Turkey), Cairo (Egypt), Jeddah and Riyadh (Saudi), Amman (Jordan), and Beirut (Lebanon).
