The 16,700km route between Singapore’s Changi airport and Newark Liberty Airport [the airport in New Jersey, is a half-hour drive from Manhattan] will feature the new Airbus A350-900 ULR (“ultra long range”) aircraft. The Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-900 will fly passengers direct from Singapore to New York.
Non-stop Singapore-Los Angeles flights are also planned with the A350-900ULR, details of which will be announced at a later date. Its Singapore-Frankfurt-New York John F. Kennedy service will continue to be in operation.
The in flight catering menu is also designed for long distance. It includes a “wellness” set menu featuring prawn ceviche, organic chicken and zucchini pappardelle and other dishes that have been developed to promote hydration, nutrition and circulation mid-flight. (Passengers can optionally pre-order lobster thermidor or rib-eye steak up to 24 hours before the flight...)
